Spectral analysis and the Riemann hypothesis

The explicit formulas of Riemann and Guinand-Weil relate the set of prime numbers with the set of nontrivial zeros of the zeta function of Riemann. We recall Alain Connes’ spectral interpretation of the critical zeros of the Riemann zeta function as eigenvalues of the absorption spectrum of an unbounded operator in a suitable Hilbert space. We then give a spectral interpretation of the zeros of...

The Riemann Hypothesis

Associated to classical semi-simple groups and their maximal parabolics are genuine zeta functions. Naturally related to Riemann’s zeta and governed by symmetries, including that of Weyl, these zetas are expected to satisfy the Riemann hypothesis. For simplicity, G here denotes a classical semi-simple algebraic group defined over the field Q of rationals. With a fixed Borel, as usual, ∆0 stands...

The Riemann Hypothesis

with s = 12 + it, and shows that ξ(t) is an even entire function of t whose zeros have imaginary part between −i/2 and i/2. He further states, sketching a proof, that in the range between 0 and T the function ξ(t) has about (T/2π) log(T/2π) − T/2π zeros. Riemann then continues “Man findet nun in der That etwa so viel reelle Wurzeln innerhalb dieser Grenzen, und es ist sehr wahrscheinlich, dass ...

Riemann Hypothesis and Physics

Riemann hypothesis states that the nontrivial zeros of Riemann Zeta function lie on the axis x = 1/2. Since Riemann zeta function allows interpretation as a thermodynamical partition function for a quantum field theoretical system consisting of bosons labelled by primes, it is interesting to look Riemann hypothesis from the perspective of physics. Quantum TGD and also TGD inspired theory of con...

Comment on the Riemann Hypothesis

The Riemann hypothesis is identified with zeros of N = 4 supersymmetric gauge theory four-point amplitude. The zeros of the ζ(s) function are identified with th complex dimension of the spacetime, or the dimension of the toroidal compactification. A sequence of dimensions are identified in order to map the zeros of the amplitude to the Riemann hypothesis.
